1. Introduction to Federation Tiling

If you are currently working in the Tiling trade industry here in Western Australia, this course can assist you to increase your current skills to rectify and reconstruct old heritage architecture. Candidates will gain the basic knowledge of the requirements to

  • Restore and renovate tiling work.

  • Set out and plan different patterns.

  • Install tiles using the ‘wet lay’ method without adhesive.

Overview

We are offering a 1-day course. This will give workers in the industry the chance to upskill and gain more skills and knowledge towards employment in the heritage trade field.

You will receive a Certificate of Participation.


2. Fibrous plaster moulds Heritage Training Skills Course Outline

If you are currently working in the Solid Plastering building and construction industry here in Western Australia, this course can assist you to be able to rectify and reconstruct old heritage architecture.

Overview

Candidates will gain the basic knowledge of the requirements to make run and fix plaster moulds on a bench. This will give workers in the industry the chance to upskill and gain more skills and knowledge towards employment in the heritage trade field.

You will receive a Certificate of Participation.

3. Pargeting Heritage Training Skill Set Course Outline

Introduction to Cement Plaster Pargeting

Pargeting is the traditional art of decorative plastering on the walls of houses and buildings introduced to England by Henry VIII dating back as far as the 16th century. The technique involves moulding wet mortar to create a form of bas-relief. Pargeting is seen on external walls in the form of a date or the name of the building. Homes and buildings throughout countries like Austria, Norway and Sweden are decorative with picture and themes. Candidates will gain the basic knowledge of the requirements to be hands on with this course also known as hand carving freehand plastering work, how to transfer work from a simple picture to a scaled up set out of carved render on a wall.

We are offering a 1-day Cement Pargeting course. This will give workers in the industry the chance to improve skills and knowledge towards employment in the heritage trade field.

4. Quoin stone, Banding and Ashlar Heritage Training Skill Set Course Outline

Introduction to Cement Quoin stone, Banding and Ashlar Finishes

If you are currently working in the Solid Plastering building and construction industry here in Western Australia, this course can assist you in upskilling your current skills for you to be able to rectify and reconstruct old heritage architecture. Candidates will gain the basic knowledge of the requirements to take on restore and renovate plastering work, how to set out and plan Quoining stones and bands. Follow plans and specifications in marking outline for ashlar lines finishes.

We are offering a 1-day Cement quoin stone, banding and ashlar course to be held over 1 day.

This will give workers in the industry the chance to upskill and gain more skills and knowledge towards employment in the heritage trade field.

5. Introduction and basic instruction to old arts and decorative effects.

If you are currently working in the Heritage and Restoration construction industry here in Western Australia, this course can assist you in upskilling to understand and apply basic old arts and decorative paint finishes. Candidates will gain the basic knowledge of identification of the correct tools and equipment, identification of the type of existing paintwork, preparation of surfaces and the application of these effects.

Overview

We are offering a 1-evening introductory course. This will give workers in the industry the chance to upskill and improve your ability and knowledge towards employment in the heritage trade field.

Our Industry experts will introduce the basics of Wood graining, Marbling, Rag rolling, Crackling and Granite.
